Change Add to Cart Text for WooCommerce

Free 0.1.4 and Pro 0.1.4 setup, testing, billing, privacy, troubleshooting, rollback, and StoreFixKit Support.

Change the words on WooCommerce's native shop and product-page buttons without changing a button URL, cart action, quantity, checkout, or order.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.2 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer
  • WooCommerce 8.9 or newer
  • Free 0.1.4 for the complete store-wide job
  • Pro 0.1.4 only when product-type, category, or individual product wording is needed

Install Free

  1. Back up the site and keep a copy of the current plugin ZIP.
  2. Open Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
  3. Upload storefixkit-add-to-cart-text-0.1.4.zip.
  4. Activate Change Add to Cart Text for WooCommerce.
  5. Open WooCommerce > Add to Cart Text.

The plugin registers no public text filters when WooCommerce is unavailable. It shows an admin notice instead of producing a storefront fatal error.

Set the two Free labels

  1. Enter Shop button text for native product lists and archives.
  2. Enter Product page button text for the native single-product button.
  3. Leave either field empty when WooCommerce's original wording should remain there.
  4. Select Save button text.
  5. Test one simple product in the shop and on its product page.
WooCommerce Add to Cart Text settings with separate Shop and Product page text fields
Free keeps the complete store-wide task on one native WordPress settings page.

Each label is plain text and limited to 80 characters. HTML, shortcodes, icons, scripts, dynamic tokens, and remote content are not rendered.

Confirm the storefront result

WooCommerce product page with the native button text changed to Add this mug
Only the visible words change. WooCommerce still owns the product, quantity field, button action, cart, checkout, and order.

Test these conditions before launch:

  • a purchasable simple product;
  • a variable product in the shop and after selecting a variation;
  • a grouped product;
  • an external or affiliate product;
  • an out-of-stock or non-purchasable product;
  • the cart, checkout, and completed test order.

The plugin does not turn Select options, View products, Read more, or Buy product into an add-to-cart action. It receives WooCommerce's native words and can replace only those words.

Free and Pro precedence

Free always remains usable without an account, checkout, trial, license, or StoreFixKit connection.

With an active Pro license, the rule order is:

  1. Use native text on the product restores WooCommerce's exact incoming words.
  2. An individual product label wins.
  3. A matching native product-type label wins next.
  4. A matching category label is next.
  5. The Free store-wide label is the final StoreFixKit fallback.
  6. An empty or invalid value returns the previous WooCommerce label.
Add to Cart Text Pro settings with product-type and category labels plus license status
Pro adds bounded placement rules without becoming a button builder or purchasing engine.
WooCommerce product settings with individual shop and product-page labels and a Use native text checkbox
A product can supply its own two labels or explicitly return to WooCommerce's native wording.

Start and activate Pro

  1. Open the Change Add to Cart Text product page.
  2. Select Start 14-day trial. No card is required to begin.
  3. Stripe returns to the StoreFixKit success page after creating the subscription.
  4. The signed StoreFixKit webhook creates a product-bound license and makes the Pro 0.1.4 ZIP available.
  5. Upload and activate Pro beside Free.
  6. Open WooCommerce > Add to Cart Text Pro.
  7. Paste the license key and select Activate Pro.
  8. Save product-type or category labels only where the Free labels are not enough.

Stripe cancels the trial at its end when no payment method has been added. A billing, network, webhook, or license outage cannot turn off the two local Free labels.

Compatibility boundary

This release supports surfaces that ask WooCommerce for its native add-to-cart text through:

  • woocommerce_product_add_to_cart_text;
  • woocommerce_product_single_add_to_cart_text.

A theme, table plugin, builder, block, or custom template that prints its own text without those filters is outside this release. StoreFixKit does not force support with CSS selectors, JavaScript replacement, template copies, or changed links.

Troubleshooting

The shop text changed but the product page did not

Confirm Product page button text is not empty. Clear the page, object, and CDN caches. Then confirm the theme calls WooCommerce's native single-product text method.

A variable product still says Select options

The shop and product page are separate surfaces. Set the shop label, then test the actual product page after choosing required options. The plugin does not remove variation choices or make a variable product directly purchasable from the archive.

A product table still shows its own words

Ask the table vendor whether it calls WooCommerce's native add-to-cart text filters. If it owns its label or renders through JavaScript, this plugin remains silent.

The wrong Pro rule wins

Check the product's Use native text choice first, then its two individual labels, product type, category, and Free values in that order. Clear a closer field when a broader rule should apply.

Free stopped after Pro was deactivated

Open WooCommerce > Add to Cart Text and confirm the two Free values. Pro does not own or delete the Free option. If the problem remains, deactivate every cache layer and test WooCommerce with Free only.

Rollback

  1. Keep the 0.1.4 and previous known-good ZIPs.
  2. Deactivate Pro, then Free.
  3. Confirm WooCommerce immediately restores its original button wording.
  4. Install the previous Free ZIP and activate it.
  5. Install the matching previous Pro ZIP and activate it only if needed.
  6. Confirm the two Free values, Pro rules, product labels, and native opt-outs remain saved.
  7. Test a simple, variable, grouped, and external product plus cart and checkout.

The verified 0.1.3 to 0.1.4 update and 0.1.4 to 0.1.3 downgrade preserved owned settings and historical order data.

Uninstall ownership

Deleting Free removes only sfk_atc_text_settings.

Deleting Pro removes only:

  • sfk_atc_text_pro_rules;
  • _sfk_atc_text_single;
  • _sfk_atc_text_loop;
  • _sfk_atc_text_native;
  • the Add to Cart Text Pro license option.

Products, product types, links, prices, inventory, carts, customers, orders, themes, templates, translations, and unrelated options remain unchanged.

StoreFixKit Support

Use StoreFixKit Support and include the product ID and type, exact shop or product URL, expected text, actual text, Free and Pro versions, WooCommerce version, theme or table/block name, cache/CDN details, and screenshots. Remove customer data, credentials, payment information, and the full license key.
