Hide SKU from supported public WooCommerce product pages while every saved SKU remains available to administration, inventory, integrations, orders, imports, exports, and reports.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.2 or newer
- PHP 7.4 or newer
- WooCommerce 8.9 or newer
- Free 0.1.2 for one store-wide public product-page switch
- Pro 0.1.2 only when product, category, or individual visibility choices are needed
Install Free
- Back up the site and keep a copy of the current plugin ZIP.
- Record the SKU of one disposable test product in Products > Edit product > Inventory.
- Open Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
- Upload
storefixkit-hide-sku-0.1.2.zip. - Activate Hide SKU for WooCommerce.
- Open WooCommerce > Hide SKU.
If WooCommerce is unavailable, StoreFixKit registers no public visibility filter and shows an admin notice instead of producing a storefront fatal error.
Hide the public product-page SKU
- Enable Hide native SKU output on public product pages.
- Select Save SKU visibility.
- Open the test product in a logged-out browser.
- Confirm the SKU is absent from the supported product-page output.
- Return to the product editor and confirm the exact SKU is still saved.
The plugin never blanks, deletes, renames, generates, validates, imports, exports, synchronizes, or otherwise writes a SKU.
Confirm the storefront and data result
Before launch, verify that the exact SKU remains present in:
- the product editor and variation editor;
- WooCommerce product search and inventory workflows;
- REST API responses used by authorized integrations;
- WP-CLI and approved import or export tools;
- orders, emails, feeds, and reports that normally use SKU data.
Also test the real public single-product template, WooCommerce's official Product SKU block, a product archive, search, quick view, and any builder or product-meta block used by the site.
Free and Pro precedence
Free always remains usable without an account, checkout, trial, license, or StoreFixKit connection.
With an active Pro license, the rule order is:
- An individual product choice of Always keep native SKU visible or Always hide native SKU output wins.
- A product selected in Hide for products is hidden next.
- A product in a selected Hide for categories category is hidden next.
- The Free store-wide switch is the final StoreFixKit fallback.
- An invalid or uncertain context returns WooCommerce's previous visibility decision.
Pro accepts up to 50 selected products and 50 selected categories. It checks the current product only; it does not scan or rewrite products in the catalog.
Start and activate Pro
- Open the Hide SKU product page.
- Select Start 14-day trial. No card is required to begin.
- Stripe returns to the StoreFixKit success page after creating the subscription.
- The signed StoreFixKit webhook creates a
hide_sku_proproduct-bound license and makes the Pro 0.1.2 ZIP available. - Upload and activate Pro beside Free.
- Open WooCommerce > Hide SKU Pro.
- Paste the license key and select Activate Pro.
- Select only the products and categories that need a different result.
Stripe cancels the trial at its end when no payment method has been added. A billing, network, webhook, or license outage cannot alter any SKU and cannot turn off the local Free switch.
Compatibility boundary
This release supports:
- classic native SKU output that asks WooCommerce's
wc_product_sku_enabledvisibility function; - WooCommerce's official
woocommerce/product-skublock on a supported public single-product request.
A theme, builder, quick-view panel, product table, custom block, or app that reads and prints the SKU independently is outside this release. StoreFixKit does not force hiding with CSS selectors, JavaScript, output buffering, template copies, REST manipulation, or data deletion.
The plugin deliberately returns WooCommerce's original result in administration, AJAX, cron, REST, CLI, feeds, archives, and uncertain contexts.
Troubleshooting
The SKU still appears on a custom product page
Test the default WooCommerce product template or official Product SKU block. If that output hides correctly, the custom layout is reading or printing SKU independently. Ask its vendor whether it uses WooCommerce's native visibility decision.
The official Product SKU block still appears
Confirm Free 0.1.2 is installed, the setting is enabled, the request is a public single-product page, and page/CDN caches are clear. Earlier 0.1.1 packages did not include the official block-render path.
SKU disappeared from administration or an integration
Deactivate StoreFixKit immediately and retest. This plugin returns the original result in admin, AJAX, REST, CLI, cron, feeds, and archives and never writes SKU data. If the SKU field itself is blank, another process changed the product record; restore from the site's product backup or import source.
The wrong Pro rule wins
Check the product's explicit Keep visible or Hide choice first, then selected products, selected categories, then the Free switch. Set the product to Use broader setting when a broader rule should apply.
Free stopped after Pro was deactivated
Open WooCommerce > Hide SKU and confirm the Free switch. Pro does not own or delete the Free option. Test a public product page with Free only after clearing caches.
Rollback
- Keep the 0.1.2 and 0.1.1 ZIPs.
- Deactivate Pro, then Free.
- Confirm WooCommerce immediately restores its native public SKU output.
- Install and activate the previous Free ZIP.
- Install the matching previous Pro ZIP only if needed.
- Confirm the Free switch, selected products and categories, and product-level choices remain saved.
- Verify the exact SKU in administration, REST, import/export, one historical order, the classic product template, and the official Product SKU block.
The verified 0.1.1 to 0.1.2 update and 0.1.2 to 0.1.1 downgrade preserved owned settings, product choices, saved SKUs, and historical order data. Rolling back to 0.1.1 also removes the new official Product SKU block support until 0.1.2 is restored.
Uninstall ownership
Deleting Free removes only sfk_hsku_settings.
Deleting Pro removes only:
sfk_hsku_pro_rules;_sfk_hsku_mode;- the Hide SKU Pro license option.
SKU values, products, variations, categories, stock, imports, exports, integrations, carts, customers, orders, emails, reports, themes, templates, and unrelated options remain unchanged.
StoreFixKit Support
Use StoreFixKit Support and include the product ID and URL, simple or variable product type, where the SKU still appears, whether the surface is classic or woocommerce/product-sku, expected result, actual result, Free and Pro versions, WooCommerce version, theme or builder name, cache/CDN details, and screenshots. Share only a disposable SKU when possible. Remove customer data, credentials, order keys, payment information, and the full license key.
